White Pine Siding

Most of the pine offered by SIDEX is white pine sourced in Eastern Canada.
Native to Quebec, white pine is the largest conifer in Eastern Canada, and its wood is the least resinous of all pines. A fast-growing tree, it can reach heights of up to 90 meters and diameters of 250 centimeters. Uniform in texture, white pine is used for moldings, cabinetwork, doors and windows, paneling and DIY. The wood is soft, varying from creamy white to yellow. It is recognized for its fine grain, stability and ease of machining and staining.

Knotty white pine:

For interior panelling and other related products, mainly when you want to show off the knots that characterize it.

Allows for wide, long planks, given the tree's characteristics. Pine knots are difficult to completely cover with OPAQUE stain, so we don't recommend it for interior panelling stained in light opaque colors.

White pine (clear knots):

For interior panelling where a more modern, high-end touch is desired.

As knots are removed from the raw material during grading, the dimensions (widths & lengths) available are rarer. Although it too is more often offered in semi-transparent stain, the absence of knots facilitates the use of opaque stain where appropriate.

Jointed white pine:

For interior panelling. This is the best option for paneling that is to be stained opaque, since the knots have been removed.

The boards are produced by butt-jointing small pieces, thus eliminating knots and offering an economical solution.
